It is a medium-sized jellyfish widely distributed in the oceans around the world, known for its round and transparent umbrella shaped body and four distinct horseshoe shaped reproductive glands. The body is composed of over 95% water, and the umbrella shaped body typically has a diameter between 25 and 45 centimeters, with filamentous tentacles at the edges covered in stinging cells used to capture prey. The body structure is simple, without a heart, lungs, or brain, and obtains oxygen and emits waste through diffusion. By contracting and relaxing their muscles to move, they are able to float and swim gracefully in water. It is a food source for many marine organisms and a key predator that controls the number of planktonic organisms.
